Mocha and Matcha are chilling in our living room today while we work on finishing our basement! Our mantle is a real old weathered barn beam and the reason our mirror sits slightly off-center is it’s resting in one of its hand-hewn notches. I made the asymmetry work by adding smaller decor on the left and larger decor on the right. All the greenery is faux (I have zero luck keeping real plants alive) and I love that the decor is then super low-maintenance. I try to change it once per season and choose decor that is minimal, neutral, reflects the season, but that doesn’t need to be constantly updated. I love white and wood vases for this because they’re so versatile and I know they’ll work in many different places around my home! And I particularly love the larger white vase on the right because it’s very light-weight so it’s something I feel better about putting on our mantle!
