Obey Giant AKA Andre the Giant has a Posse. A street art experiment in phenomenology by artist and skateboarder Shepard Fairey. Growing up I spent allot of time in my mom's skateshop / streetwear boutique in by RISDI in Providence Rhode Island. I'd spend hours playing in the window displays surrounded by progressive counterculture graphic design. Despite tagging the side of my parents building, my mom supported an RISDI student and upcoming artists by the name of Shepard Fairey. Giving him one of his first outlets to distribute his work on stencil sprayed skateboard decks, screen printing t-shirts, and of course the phenomenological sticker campaign. Today Obey remains as one of the most iconic brands representing the underlying values of skateboarding culture and streetwear. This story is a glimpse into my inspiration for Miami Beach Streetwear Look 009. I'll be posting my collection of looks to my blog over the next couple of weeks.
