Christy Powers’ portraiture stood out at my last visit to the Other Art Fair in Brooklyn - which I approximate happened in 2021. Her works are impressionist, documentarian, & contemporary. They echo the inspiration of a NY born artist & are an extension of a practice honed at Sarah Lawrence & the College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Whales - exhibited in spaces including the Queen Victoria Museum, Kudos Gallery, & the Bronx Museum. The selection of one of a kind works below, created with acrylic, ink, & gauche on wood mounted Yupo paper, were painted during the earliest days of the pandemic for the Artist Support Pledge. They are “Icon” paintings. & I too have felt inspired by the portrayed figures. #LTKart
