Ill be the first to admit that I’ve done this. We all have. We all have had moments where we’ve judged a book by its cover, when the inside didn’t match at all. I read an awesome article about a student who attends the high school I graduated from. He helped an elderly woman at night when she was having trouble finding her car. He fit many “stereotypes” that people tend to think harshly of, yet something made the woman feel completely comfortable with him and he felt comfortable with her. ⁣⁣

The story had a wonderful ending, where the woman ended up finding out who the student was and made him go viral. He even got rewarded a scholarship to help with college. ⁣⁣

We should all work harder, myself included, to overlook stereotypes. His lesson that everyone can live by is this: ⁣

“some people help others and do things for show and recognition, but it’s the things you do when no one is watching that shows your heart and who you really are.” ⁣💕⁣

It’s been a #sundayfunday here at the brown house! This morning we went to @eatatperkins for breakfast. I haven’t been to Perkin’s in I swear over 10 years. Their blueberry muffins are my favorite and the flavor was just as amazing as I remembered lol! About two weeks ago, one of my coworkers made a comment that really stuck with me. He said: Memorial Day isn't a "happy" day. He's right. Memorial Day is actually a very sad day because we are remembering those who fought and died for our freedom. While we're out celebrating, they're gone. Now, I didn't get on here to bum anybody out by any means, but I want us all to think about our parents, grandparents, spouses, friends, friends of friends, etc. who have served so that we could have better lives and opportunities. Always be grateful for what you have because it did not come easily.

I encourage everyone to thank an active duty member or veteran today for their service. As someone who had a significant other, father, and grandfather in the military, I know it means a lot to them to hear that they are appreciated. ❤️ http://liketk.it/2C7oM #liketkit @liketoknow.it

As I was driving to work this morning, listening to my favorite morning radio show, the @elvisduranshow 😍, I heard Gandhi and Danielle talking about this book called Girl Wash Your Face written by @msrachelhollis 📖 This book is all about all of the lies women believe about themselves: “you aren’t good enough”, “you’re not thin enough”, “you’ll never amount to anything”. Rachel goes into detail about all of those and more as she seeks to empower women and have them “wash their face” clean from all of those lies!

This book honestly sounds amazing and I really want to try to make time to read it!

Super excited that it’s Friday because this weekend is the first weekend I’ve really had off in months. I’ve been struggling with working two jobs and I finally decided that I needed more work/life balance. So to kick things off, tomorrow, Chandler and I are finally going to enjoy his Christmas present that I got him and go take an archery lesson, then we’ll be headed to our friend’s daughters first birthday party!

At Diesel’s annual trip to the vet we found out he has to lose 10 pounds 😂 poor guy lol.

But - now we’re going on 30 minute walks multiple days a week which is getting him and myself in shape! I was slacking on getting my 10,000 steps in a day for a while and now I’m back at it!
