꧁𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗜 of a series I like to call “𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐’𝘮 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 - 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘌𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯” Several months into the start of the pandemic, we sold our beach bungalow in Ventura and found a place with more space in nearby Camarillo. We then underwent a four month renovation project that started the day after we moved in. Here’s an 𝘼𝙁𝙏𝙀𝙍 photo of our formal living room, which shows the end result after the remodel of what we jokingly call “our 90s mansion.” We ended up getting this place for a steal because most of the home hadn’t been touched since it was built in the 90s. That meant it was structurally fine and—because it was well cared for—it was in 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 condition, but the taste level just wasn’t… well, “ours”. It had a lot of red oak finishes throughout, tile and grout countertops (IYKYK) and some pretty horrific paint colors. So our renovation consisted of ripping out the existing hodgepodge of white tile, travertine tile and red-colored hardwood and replacing it with a grey brown, dog-friendly waterproof laminate wood floor, 𝘓𝘖𝘛𝘚 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵, replacing the kitchen countertops, glazing tile and marble in areas we didn’t want to replace, switching out some fixtures, and some DIY projects on my end (more paint, some wallpaper and odds and ends). Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be rolling out photos of the final product, along with some videos of the renovation process and of course some 𝘽𝙀𝙁𝙊𝙍𝙀 & 𝘼𝙁𝙏𝙀𝙍 shots so you can see the difference.
