Super realistic mom outfit for a busy and emotionally taxing morning.
Listen, it’s not all glamour, clean hair, and booties over here and I refuse to pretend like it is.
Instead, it’s ripped old jeans, very dirty hair, and enough iced coffee to keep an elephant awake. And that’s just how it be some days.
But you know what, even on hard not so glam days I’m trying not to repeat outfits, to count my blessings, and to keep my usage of profanity to single digit offense.
And that’s what I call winning.

Listen, life gets busy and I am not someone who believes that y’all want to see what I’m wearing every day. But in the interest of maybe inspiring someone to shop less and use what they’ve got more, I want to keep going until I run out of steam.
So this week I wore my favorite wide leg pants, some leggings and boots, and my favorite jeans way too much.
Still, no repeats…and could keep going for a long time.

Every single time k wear this jacket I get multiple compliments.
I guess there’s something about the bold red and the fuzzy fabric that makes it stand out.
And while this one is super old (classics never die), I highly recommend finding a red coat for yourself if you can. It’s the perfect pick me up on a freezing winter day.

Sticking to classics makes everything easier. Nothing here is “on trend,” yet somehow it looks like it is at least adjacent to trendy.
And in midlife, trend-adjacent is the name of the game. It allows you to wear what you want and makes you feel comfortable, while not looking like your mom.
Also, these Spanx jeans are my favorite wide leg jeans ever and if you haven’t gotten on this trend, these are the pants to start with.

PS: this blazer is sold out but I’m hopeful Target will restock it since it’s an absolute fit. But the Amazon one is a close fit, though I can’t vouch for the thickness and material.

PS: finally broke down and got Chelsea boots. Some beautiful black ones are on their way, but these browns are on repeat right now. Putting the higher heel boots away for this season of life, they just don’t make sense as pretty as they are. But I’m not sad about it.

Major Dupe Alert!!
I have been a dedicated fan of Beautycounters Cleansing Balm for years now. But the price is just a little 🥴 for me. It’s worth it, and I’ll pay it, but I get annoyed every time I click “add to cart.”
So when I found this Cerave Balm at Target for (wait for it…) $13 I was skeptical but willing to give it a try.
And you know what?
I love it just as much.
(If not more).
It cleans off EVERYTHING. It leaves my skin soft and supple. And it’s the first line in my double cleanse routine now, at a much better price point.
Now, the drawback is the ingredients and there is an argument that BC’s balm is “cleaner” than the Cerave so still worth it. And I’ll probably keep a jar on hand too.
But this budget-friendly dupe, I had to share. It’s that dang good.

Today is chilly so I’m wearing it as a coat and it’s keeping me toasty and warm.

Have you ever had one of those days where you just don’t feel right in anything you put on?
Yeah. Today was one of those days for me. I tried about 30 different combos and maybe it’s the weather (rainy), the day (last one before Christmas break), or my mood (tired), none of them worked.
So, instead of calling it a day and donning my sweats again, I threw on my old faithful clothes, the things that always FEEL right no matter what my mood.
For me that’s a Quince $50 cashmere crew, old and comfy flares, and some sneakers (red for the season).
Am I on-trend and fashionable? Nope. I am not.
But I’m comfortable, happy, and (at least somewhat) put together. And that’s all that counts.

How do we feel about white jeans in the winter, y’all?
I think they’re on trend but I’ve never really been comfortable with the idea. Until…I paired them with my favorite camel blazer (for real, go get it, I have about 500 ways you can wear it in my head that I can share) and this dressed up casual look.
Sporting this for a lunch meet up with an old colleague and I feel put together, comfortable, and, dare I say it, “trendy.”

I am not going to lie, I am 💯 in my “camel era.”
NO, I don’t mean I’m a desert-loving mammal often used for transportation (though that’s partially true).
I mean that I’m all about incorporating camel into my wardrobe often. It’s a basic neutral with a classic vibe and dressier air than beige. And it just makes me feel put together to throw on a camel jacket or sweater.
Like I’m pretending to be more sophisticated than I really am.

Sunday cozies in my new favorite jeans.
I have had my eye on these wide leg jeans from Spanx for basically ever, but it wasn’t until they went on deep DEEP sale and I grabbed them that I realized I have found a closet staple
I will be wearing for years to come.
They are super comfortable (but extra long so if you’re 5’4” or under, go with Petite), and can be dressed up or down.
Today for a lazy Sunday I’m throwing them on with the best Quince cashmere and my classic go-to sneaker.
Is it ground-breaking cutting edge fashion? Absolutely not. But is it perfect midlife comfort with classic style?
