Grab some Pillsbury sugar cookie in the pumpkin 🎃 or any fun shape and some ready to bake cookie dough for minimum effort. Our Secret Garden dressing room took quite some time to get to where it’s at today. But home takes time.

And I really took my sweet time. We bought this house back in June 2021 and didn’t have a closet till March of 2023 when we saved up enough to have a custom his & hers wardrobe built.

I decided to have it made in raw mdf to save on costs because I knew I wanted to customize it myself. But it took until January of 2024 to finally add the trim. At that time I just primed it white.

Then in April, I added window cling to the glass doors to give it a stain glass effect. The Secret Garden dressing room was finally taking shape.

And this month, I finally painted our closet in this beautiful blue the perfectly compliments the stain glass effect and the marble tiles in the bathroom.

I’m so pleased with how this space turned out! It took over three years to complete this project but I’m glad I took my time to save, plan and gather the perfect pieces for this space. It came together beautifully.

Shout out to some accounts for inspiring this project! @reserve_home introduced the idea of window cling and corbels into my world and I fell in love with @hummusbirrd mirror so I bought one for this space. And I bought that iron hanger from @lemontree_interiors many years ago before we even planned for this closet. It finally found a home here.

I was about to go out to do some gardening and was slapping on sunscreen when I thought I’d share this quick unstick protection bar with you. You can have a full face of make up and apply this over and your make up stays intact. It’s got great reviews and it’s on sale right now!

You’re suppose to reapply sunscreen through the day, and if you’re like me, you don’t because you don’t want to mess up your make up. This is going to solve that problem for you!

I’ve been experimenting with make up a lot more recently. I think it’s hitting my late 30s and I got stuck doing the same thing over and over. It’s been so fun!

This week I picked up this eyeshadow pallete and the shimmers and glitters are so much fun! The tech has really changed in make up since I remember.

Got a lot of questions about the heels I wore for the wedding this weekend. These are strappy heels with a square toe. I love how they’re delicate but feel sturdy on the feet. It’s about 3.75 inches high but it didn’t kill my feet.

The heel has a flared bottom so it felt stable even thought it’s a stiletto. I love the simple but pretty style of it. Comes in several colours as well

Did you know you can deep clean your laundry by stripping it? It’s quite satisfying to see all the grime, body oils and laundry detergent build up soak out. And you can brighten and whiten your white bedding and towels this way! Over time, I’ve noticed my nice fluffy towels become scruffy and dingy and my bedding and pillow cases have seen better days.

Stripping your laundry is easy! Fill your tub (or big bucket) with super hot water and add a cup of powdered laundry detergent, a quarter cup of borax and a quarter cup of washing soda. Mix well until dissolved.

Throw in your laundry and let it marinate for at least 4 hours. And watch all the oil, dirt, grime and detergent build up come out. Drain your tub and transport your wet laundry in a garbage bag lined basket.

Then throw your wet laundry into the washer with an additional cycle. I chose to add bleach to further brighten my whites. Skip this step if you’re stripping colourful clothing, towels or bedding.

Next, transfer to your laundry to the dryer with a few tennis balls or wool balls to fluff up your laundry.
 And there you have! You’ve deep cleaned your laundry!

I love this outfit because it’s not actually a dress! It’s two pieces that are super versatile and comfy. Plus you don’t need special garments for the top because it’s super thick, ribbed and works like a spanx. (But comfier) I also really like the neckline.

Plus the skirt has been so good to have in my closet, throw a cardigan or a sweater over top and pull on some boots and you have a really cute going out look.

With it together, it looks like an entire dress! I love it

Have you ever tried force blooming any flowers indoors? It’s so beautiful and I find myself looking forward to checking on the progress throughout the days.

Force blooming is a technique used to get flowers to bloom earlier than their natural cycle. By bringing home a stem or branch near the end of winter into the warmth of a home, it would “trick” the plant into thinking it’s an early spring and bloom earlier.

Here I am force blooming a magnolia branch I got from @instaorchidflorist when I first brought it home I gave the end of the branch a fresh cut and put it in room temperature water (about a quarter of the way in the case). It’s advised to put your branches out of direct sunlight and to change the water often.

You can also mist the buds to keep them from drying out before they bloom.

Branches that are great for force blooming are magnolias, cherry blossoms, forsythias, lilacs, hawthorns, quince, and apple blossoms to name a few! You can always ask your local florist what they can acquire because it is seasonal.

Here’s how you can maximize your laundry space with these tips and tricks.

1) take advantage of your vertical space. I installed a tension rod high up to hang our cleaning products. It saves me valuable cupboard space and I see what I have.

Speaking of vertical space, hang a dowel above your laundry sink for an extra place to hang dry clothing. I linked some tension rods and a pipe cutter if you need to adjust the length for your space.

2) Use Command grippers to organize and keep your brooms and cleaning supplies standing up and tidy. I linked other options that look super handy as well.

3) Use peg hooks to hold items you grab daily. I created a landing zone for our keys and bags. I got these peg hooks from H&M.

Now everything has a home, is super accessible and easy to put away
