30. Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune:: 4/5⭐️ Wallace Price is not a nice person, so it’s no surprise when he dies of a heart attack that hardly anyone shows up to his funeral. No surprise to anyone but himself, that is. At his funeral, Wallace is collected by a Reaper and brought to a very particular tea shop. At this tea shop, the living and the dead coexist, except the living don’t know the dead are there. Wallace realizes, after meeting all of the people at the tea shop, that he really didn’t live his life. So when the Manager gives him just one week to cross over, Wallace sets out to live his life and make a difference. It’s what he finds at the end of his week that makes the most difference of all. This was a really good story. I think if I hadn’t been cleaning while listening to this it would have been sadder, but still a very well written book. I loved the lessons in the book. I believe It could be validating or comforting if you’re walking through grief as well.
